Prezi
Prezi: A web-based presentation tool—that's very fun to use. The tutorials provided on the website will teach you how to use Prezi. Once you get started, it's pretty addictive.
My Prezi--the first one I ever did--is here.
Here's one way you can use Prezi: Have students create a character review, for Canterbury Tales, for instance.

Character Analysis Presentation
(image+quotation+description+evaluation) x 4 = presentation
Logistically, it works best to have the students sign up in advance to give the accounts time to activate. If students sign up with a .edu email, each account will have a couple of extra bells and whistles--particularly the ability to lock presentations.

Use Prezi to Reveal (or Review) Character
Students pick (or you can assign) four characters.
Find pictures of the four characters. (Google images is good for this)
Find a quotation for each character. (My students have this information on their worksheets already, although they're welcome to use something I didn't give them.)
Find a physical description of the character (if applicable).
Evaluate the character based on Chaucer's assessment of him or her. If the student can use the term satire correctly, that's a bonus.
For example, Chaucer admires the Knight because the Knight fights honorably for his king and shows his devotion to God by going on a pilgrimage.

Once all the information is gathered, the students put it into a Prezi. (This is the fun part!)
Here is a student example. Here's another.
If you want to see a really amazing presentation, have a look at this. It's called "Future-Proof Your Education."
Prezi zooms! Think GROUP and PATH
Elements are grouped together (in this case by character).
Paths are created to move from element to element. That's where the zooming comes in.

Time frame:
Register students early using an email with a .edu extension.
It takes 1 class period to gather all the information.
It takes 1 class period to teach students how to use Prezi. (They learn fast.)
It takes 2 class periods (or less) for students to actually create a Prezi. It can also be done from home because it's web-based.
I have students post the link to their Prezi on a blog so that I can go see them. Other students can see them and I can present them on the Eno board.
My students really enjoyed this. Many used Prezi for their presentations in other classes.
